Which Chevron Grade Should I Choose?

Choosing chevrons is not just about picking the right vehicle template. The grade you choose affects visibility, compliance, durability, and how easy the kit is to install.

At Chapter 8 Shop, we offer three chevron grades:

• Entry Grade (self-assemble, basic reflective, not suitable for highway work)
  
  

• Premium Grade (self-assemble, microprismatic, recommended for higher-speed roads)
  
  

• Premium Plus (pre-applied, microprismatic, fastest to install and built for highway use)

Quick guide at a glance

Entry Grade
Best for low-risk, non-highway use where cost matters most.

Premium Grade
Best all-round option for fleets working on dual carriageways and higher-speed roads.

Premium Plus
Best for highways and busy operational environments where you want maximum visibility and fastest install.

Entry Grade Chevrons

Entry Grade is your most cost-effective option and comes as a self-assembly kit. It’s designed for situations where you need improved rear visibility, but the vehicle is not working on highways.

Choose Entry Grade if:

• the vehicle is mainly on local roads or private sites
  

• you want a lower-cost option

• you don’t need motorway or dual carriageway performance

Premium Grade Chevrons

Premium Grade is a step up in both visibility and performance. It is also self-assembly, but uses microprismatic reflective film, which is designed to improve visibility on motorways and dual carriageways.

Choose Premium Grade if:

• the vehicle regularly works on faster roads
  

• you want improved long-distance visibility
  

• you want a strong balance of performance and value

Premium Plus Chevrons

Premium Plus is the highest option and is built for fleets that want speed, finish, and highway-ready performance.

It uses pre-applied microprismatic film, meaning it is ready to install, saving time and reducing the chance of errors during fitting.

Choose Premium Plus if:

• vehicles operate on highways and dual carriageways
  

• you want the easiest installation route
  

• you want the most robust finish (less vulnerable to edge damage)

What does “microprismatic” actually mean?

Microprismatic reflective film uses optical elements to return light more efficiently, which improves how markings appear to drivers in low light and at distance.

In simple terms: it helps chevrons “pop” more consistently when headlights hit them, especially in wet weather and darkness.

For fleets, the grade decision is usually about three things:

1. Where vehicles operate (local roads vs high-speed roads)
   

2. How long you want the kit to last (durability and service life)
   

3. How quickly you need to fit (self-assembly vs pre-applied)
   

If you’re unsure, Premium Grade is often the safest middle ground, and Premium Plus is best when highways and speed of install matter most. Premium Plus also saves your fitters time, it is estimated by up to 60 mins per vehicle for just a small mount more in cost.
